Double Door Distribution Boards
Overview
A Double Door Distribution Board takes the standard distribution board concept and adds a layer of physical separation between what the user sees and touches, the MCB operating handles, and what stays covered and protected: the live busbars, wiring terminations, and neutral connections. The outer door provides access to operate circuit breakers and read circuit labels. The inner door stays closed over the wiring until a qualified person specifically needs to work inside the board.
Double-door design provides a meaningful safety advantage. It reduces the chance of accidental contact with live parts during routine MCB operation, which is the most common reason someone who is not an electrician opens a distribution board.
In addition to ensuring safety, the double door design is also effective in dustproofing the internal wiring. Dust makes its way into every crevice it possibly can in industrial settings, warehouses and construction sites. A double door board gives the internal wiring compartment an additional barrier against this, keeping the connections cleaner over time and reducing the maintenance burden on the installation.
